Our Mission
Our mission is to make a space for children and adolescents with autism to learn, share their passion for art, and connect socially through creativity.
We offer classes for children ages 10 to 18 who love to draw or paint, write stories including fan fiction, or who want to explore both!

Amy Leidtke MA is a RISD professor and industrial design artist with 25 years of teaching experience.
Karen Holler PHD ABPP is a pediatric neuropsychologist at Brown University with 25 years of working with children and adolescents on the spectrum.

What We Believe
We believe that children with autism are highly creative but often lack access to art classes geared toward their particular interests and needs.
We believe that art is a powerful doorway to social relationships. Bringing art and friendship together leads to contentment and purpose.
SPECTRUM ART CLUB
HOW IT WORKS
Courses will have a theme (e..g, anime), last 6 weeks, and will include visual arts and/or writing. Zoom classes will occur twice per week for 90 minutes each. Day of classes and start dates will be announced once courses are full and will occur between 3:30 and 5 pm EST.
WHO WILL PARTICIPATE
Each class will be limited to 5 students (at most) clustered by ages 10 to 13, and 14 to 18 as well as by interest when possible. The first half hour of each class will teach skills directly with the following hour devoted to working on projects, sharing work, and individual coaching in break out rooms. Each student will be emailed a materials list prior to class starting.
IT'S A CLUB
Relationships between students will be facilitated during class, and connections outside of class will be encouraged as students get to know each other (with parental permission). Once a student has participated in a class, they will be automatically assigned membership in the Club for a year, a moderated forum.
